Mission Statement/Core Values

WMUV inspires and equips women to influence the world for Christ.

WMUV affirms:

Women: Christ’s Call on a Woman’s Life

We believe that the call to influence the world for Christ transcends gender and we specifically value the call as it relates to women. We provide resources, discipling, and mission opportunities through which women discover their spiritual gifts and connect their gifts with their personal passions.

Missions: Missional Response to the World’s Needs

We hold fast to Christ’s command in Scripture to live a missional lifestyle. We educate children, students, and adults about missions, provide connecting points for practical mission ideas and opportunities, and offer meaningful experiences to deepen their relationship with Christ.

Leadership: Development of Missional Leaders

We value the Spirit of God at work in and through people of all ages as they use their voice to positively impact the Kingdom of God. We offer mission-centered leadership training, develop leadership abilities, and provide opportunities to lead.

Alma Hunt_small(1)

The annual offering for Virginia missions was named for Alma Hunt (1909-2008), a native Virginian who was known worldwide for her missions service and her unswerving dedication to the cause of Christ. Churches and individuals may contribute at any time.

The offering provides funding for all Woman’s Missionary Union of Virginia (WMUV) missions and ministries and makes possible other special ministries, outreach projects, and initiatives not funded through regular streams of giving (but uniquely connected to Virginia Baptists).

Since 1976 this offering has been a joint venture between WMUV and the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV).

The annual goal and allocation of funds are determined by the Executive Director/Treasurer of WMUV and the Executive Director of the BGAV and approved by their respective boards.

When you give to the Alma Hunt Offering for Virginia Missions, you are equipping those who seek to share with others how God has set them free to live and serve.
