2023:

On Saturday morning, February 18th, over 200 volunteers gathered at Hermitage BC to pack 1200   Sterilite boxes with school supplies, a variety of hygiene items, and a few fun items. These boxes will be      delivered to school age children in grades PK-12th grade.  The children live in the Appalachian area of Kentucky which is one of the most poverty stricken areas in America.  The energy and spirit of those in attendance was awesome and the feedback we have received has been positive, “better than last year”,  and “I hope we do this again”.

2022:

On February 19, 2022, approximately 200 people came together at Hermitage Baptist Church in Church View to pack 1,200 Hope for Appalachia boxes that will be delivered to children at their schools, children who live in poverty.  As more people streamed into Hermitage fellowship hall the morning of February 19, some may have thought where was everyone going to stand and work, BUT God, similar to the feeding of 5,000 men, beside women and children, “all did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full”  (Matthew 14:20).     The fellowship of Christian sisters and brothers of all ages together packing gave the packers “abundant life” Jesus spoke of in John 10:10  “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”   This abundant life carried over to the Hope for Appalachia team, then to the schools’ administration, teachers, and then finally to the precious children waiting to be told Jesus loves them.   Thank you God for this amazing day!

Packing was so much fun! All working for God’s glory!

“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.”                   1 John 3:18

2021:

We are still amazed at how many ramps we were able to provide to families even in the midst of all the challenges that came with Covid-19.  Pictured below are two ramps, among many, that were built in 2021.  Community Ministries missions’ project in 2021 continues to be “Ramp Up” (building of ramps).  Thank you for your support, both by prayer and financial giving, to MTBA Week of Prayer Missions’ Offering.

2020:

While we have been social distancing, washing hands often, wearing face masks, and being aware of coronavirus possibly around us, one of our MTBA members had an emergency medical condition that required a ramp added to his home.  When MTBA received the call, we immediately reached out to our Community Ministries Chair, Jim Burns.   The ramp requirements were measured, materials purchased, and a team of 12 people from several MTBA churches built the ramp pictured.  Thank you, Jim Burns, for leading this project!  Thank you MTBA for your faithful giving to the Association Week of Prayer Offering in which 100% of the funds support these projects.   In addition to the ramp pictured, through God’s invention, MTBA built an additional three ramps in 2020!  To God Be the Glory!

2019:

The Community Ministries Action Group focus for 2019 was Disaster Relief assistance to our sisters and brothers in North Carolina. Several of our churches sent teams and individuals who partnered with other churches to offer disaster relief assistance in our sister state of North Carolina.  With every act of love, we bring the Kingdom come!

RISE AGAINST HUNGER MEAL PACKING:

On Saturday, September 22, 2018, over 200 people from our MTBA churches packed 50,000 meals (each meal feeds 6 people) at Hermitage BC (Church View).   It was an awesome day to glorify Him.  Jesus saith unto him, “Feed my sheep”.   John 21:17      Everyone enjoyed a time of sisterly and brotherly love by serving, cooperating, and sharing with God’s people.   MTBA partnered with the Rise Against Hunger organization to assist their mission to end world hunger by 2030.
