On Sunday June 11th the Youth Action Committee held a Summer Splash at Camp Piankatank. We had 48 people total in Attendance. The Youth enjoyed the Pool, Basketball, GaGa Ball, and Knockerball was a very popular hit. Even our own Tammy Faulkner tried it. Let me add, she did a fantastic job. On Saturday, September 16, at Hermitage Baptist Church, volunteers from our MTBA family of churches will gather to pack 20,000 meals. These meals will be used by the Rise Against Hunger organization in their efforts to end world hunger. The MTBA has participated in this project before and our Community Actions Team felt that the timing was right to help this cause once again. The 3rd year of FINS came to a close on Sunday, May 21. We capped off another successful year of the program with an afternoon of food and FUN. Many thanks to the MTBA for use of the ministry outreach trailer. The bounce houses and popcorn machine were a hit. We are already in the stages of planning FINS year #4. Hermitage Baptist Church, located in Church View, VA, dedicated their new fellowship hall on June 4, 2017. A son, Rev. Amos Healy, Jr. was guest speaker, and he and his family brought special music. It was a moving worship service. Hermitage Baptist Choir also sung special music. Many thanks were offerred for so many who gave so much to see a dream come true. MTBA held their Spring 2017 meeting on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at St. Stephens Baptist Church in St. Stephens Church, VA. The program was filled with history of the World from 1772 to 2010, history of our oldest churches (Glebe Landing and Lower King & Queen), history of three churches, Olivet, Saluda, and St. Stephens, who will be celebrating 175th birthday in 2017, history of the birth of MTBA in 1959, and history of our youngest church, New Hope Fellowship in 2010. MTBA Golf Tournament was held on Friday, April 28, 2017, at Piankatank River Golf Club in Hartfield. Teams from MTBA churches and others played a round of golf and lunch was provided. Following the tournament, a steak cook out for participants was held at Camp Piankatank in Hartfield. The monies raised will go towards MTBA Rise Against Hunger mission. The MTBA Spring WMU meeting was held on April 23, 2017, at Urbanna Baptist Church, Urbanna, VA. WMU Director, Janice Richardson, welcomed everyone followed by prayer. Hymns were sung, reports presented, and prayers lifted. A special presentation was given by Urbanna Baptist “No Strings Attached Puppet Ministry Team”. Dr. Valerie Carter, Executive Director/Treasurer of WMU of VA, guest speaker delivered a powerful, energy filled message of “By All Means” from 1 Corinthians 9:19-23.
